Laguna Niguel Parks

Laguna Niguel Regional Park

Hannah_8_045Laguna Niguel Regional Park is a beautiful 236 acre parkland which surrounds a 44 acre lake, which is regularly stocked with catfish, bass and blue gill and trout during the winter months only. The park grounds include picnic areas equipped with covered picnic gazebos, tables and barbecue stoves and electrical outlets. Enjoy a concert or a play in the park’s amphitheater provided by community organizations.

Laguna Niguel Park activities include horseshoe pits, a par course along the parks two mile jogging trail, two sand volleyball courts and four lighted tennis courts. Kite Hill offers excellent conditions for remote control glider operations. Bicycle and equestrian trails meander throughout the park.

To reach the park, take the Santa Ana Freeway (5) to the La Paz Road off ramp. Head west four miles to the park entrance.

Open: Fall – Winter Hours, 6 a.m to 6 p.m.
Open: Spring – Summer Hours, 6 a.m to 9 p.m.
Office: Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Fishing hours for Lake Concessionaire:

Crown Valley Community Park

Hannah_8_025Crown Valley Community Park serves as the center for Laguna Niguel recreational programs and activities. Spend a summer day swimming in the pool or playing with the kids the tot lot or the wading pool. If you delight in outdoor sports, Crown Valley Community park offers a variety of activities from playing a game of baseball or soccer to walking or riding the many bike trails throughout the park.  Once you build up your appetite refresh with a picnic at one of the 30 picnic tables or 7 barbecue areas.  Relax in an evening under the stars as you listen to a concert in the outdoor amphitheater during the summer concert series offered free from the city of Laguna Niguel.  Bring a blanket and delight in a picnic dinner under the stars. 


Hannah_8_035Interested in flowers?  The Niguel Botanical Preserve is an 18-acre botanical garden located within Crown Valley Community Park in the City of Laguna Niguel.  Stroll along pathways as you gaze over the local flowers and plants maintained by a volunteer group since 1981.

Aliso and Wood Canyon Wilderness Park
Come for a day of
hiking or bicycling along the many 30 miles of trails through the park.  The trails elevation can change over 600 feet so be sure to dress appropriately for the changes in temperature.  If you want to bring your dog along for a run, a number of trails permit leashed dogs including the wonderful Aliso Creek Bike Trail and the West Ridge Trail.  Stop by the park office or at the entrance of the hiking trails to pick up your map.

Interested in geology?  Aliso and Wood Canyons Wilderness Park features many interesting geological formations within the northeastern area of the park.   One of the historic landmarks in the park is Dripping “Robbers” Cave which6_Laguna_Niguel_lake was used as a temporary refuge by the infamous Juan Flores “gang” as a hide-out during their stagecoach robbery heists.  The gangs disappeared along with the stagecoaches and today the name comes from the rainwater dripping in the cave onto the sandstone rock.

Laguna Niguel has 7 elementary schools and 1 middle school for students to attend including the prestigious National Blue Ribbon Award for George White Elementary.  The local high schools of Dana Hills and Aliso Niguel also were National Blue Ribbons Award winners and deliver outstanding education to Laguna Niguel students.   

Saddleback College, a community college located within a few miles of Laguna Niguel, provides college opportunities for over 20,000 students
